Rights, limitations & responsibilities
ESRI has granted WSU certain limited rights to install and use the site licensed software. WSU has agreed to use all reasonable care to protect the ESRI software from unauthorized use, reproductions, distribution, or publication. Violations of these rights can result in the suspension of the site license. Towards this end, all units and individuals participating in the site license program must understand and abide by the rights, limitations, and responsibilities set forth herein. Any questions about appropriate use of ESRI products should be addressed to the site license administrator for clarification.
Permitted Uses of ESRI Products
Participating WSU units MAY:
- Install any or all software and data products from the licensed software product option onto a fixed, internal hard disk. Products may be installed on any or all CPU(s) for which the participating unit possesses WSU inventory numbers. Software may be installed in a dedicated or network distributed environment. If in a network distributed environment, all efforts possible must be taken to assure that only members of the participating WSU unit or students/personnel attending classes/labs offered by the participating WSU unit access the ESRI products.
- Permit the faculty and staff of the participating unit to install and use the ESRI products.
- Permit WSU registered students to use ESRI products. Students may install ESRI products only with oversight of a WSU faculty or staff member from the participating unit.
- Contact a WSU GIS Specialist with questions about ESRI products (staff and faculty only).
- Copy, edit, print and create derivative works of any or all ESRI online documentation. A copyright attribution notice "Portions of this document include intellectual property of ESRI and are used herein by permission. Copyright Year Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. All Rights Reserved.should be included with all internally or externally published works containing elements of ESRI online documentation.
- Use, modify, copy, reproduce, re-market, resell, and/or redistribute the data contained on the ArcUSA, ArcWorld, ArcScene, Digital Chart of the World, and US Streets Database CDs.
ESRI Product Use Limitations
Participating WSU Units MAY NOT:
- Make any copies of software except for the installation of such products on the fixed, internal hard disk of a computer.
- Loan ESRI products to faculty, staff or student of a non-participating unit.
- Allow access to ESRI products by non-participating unit staff and faculty personnel.
- Allow access to ESRI products by students not currently registered at WSU.
- Allow students to install ESRI products without oversight by a WSU faculty or staff member from the participating unit.
- Use ESRI software for commercial (non-university) time-sharing.
- Alter any ESRI software in any way.
- Remove or obscure any copyright or trademark notices.
- Contact ESRI personnel with questions.
- Reproduce, in any way, non-online ESRI software documentation.
Participating Unit Responsibilities
Participating WSU Units SHALL:
- Guard against theft or misplacement of ESRI product media while it is in their charge. The participating unit will be responsible to replace in kind any media misplaced, stolen, or otherwise destroyed while in their charge.
- Report theft, misplacement, or destruction of ESRI product media immediately to the site license administrator.
- Provide to the site license administrator Rights, Limitations, and Responsibilities Agreements signed by the principle user for each computer in the participating unit on which the ESRI site licensed products are installed. Click Here for a printable copy of the agreement.
- Maintain a list of all computers in the participating unit on which the ESRI site licensed products are installed.
- In the case a WSU unit ceases to participate in the site license, provide to the site license administrator a Certification of Destruction signed by the principle user of each computer on which ESRI site license products are installed. Deliver the Certifications of Destruction to the site license administrator.
