WSU ESRI Site License

ArcGIS 9.2 Download & Installation Instructions

This software is only available to members of participating departments at Washington State University.

ArcGIS 9.2 is available from the ftp site, ftp://cru22.cahe.wsu.edu/gis/esri/. Contact me (richard_rupp(at)wsu.edu, 509-335-2381) to have either your WSU or CAHE ID added to the group with access permissions. If you are not a member of a WSU department that has PAID for the site license, do not ask for access. Log into the site with the appropriate ID and password:

(Don't forget the "AD\" or "CAHE\")

  1. Start by downloading ArcGIS92Desktop.zip (845 M(as in MEGA)B from the Desktop 9.2 folder
  2. Download Workstation.zip (329 MB)from the Workstation 9.2 folder.
  3. Download LicenseManagerSetup.zip (15 MB) from the License Manager folder.
  4. If you want the tutorial files or Crystal Reports you can get those from the appropriate folders.
This should get you going with 9.2. Your current license files will work with the new version. I will continue to place ArcGIS 9.2 components (ArcIMS, SDKs, SDE, new Data & Maps, etc.) on the ftp site, so check back. If you know of something you want contact me and I'll move it up on the list.

Once you have downloaded the files, start the installation process by uninstalling your current version of ArcGIS. If you want, ESRI has a tool on their ESRI Support Site (http://support.esri.com) that will streamline the removal process. In addition to the core ArcGIS program, be sure to remove any additional software such as the Desktop Developer Kit, ArcGIS Tutorial Data, Crystal Reports for ESRI, Python 2.1, etc. Unzip the Desktop Program and run the setup program. Do the same with the Workstation and License Manager.

Some of the older ESRI software on the ftp site is available as "*.iso" files. Download these files and burn them to a CD with your favorite CD writing software. If you do not have CD burning software on your computer I recommend the free IsoRecorder software available from http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/Beta.htm. The CD burning software built into Windows XP will not process the .iso files properly. If you are not familiar with disk image files (.iso) contact me. Once you have the CDs, you can use them to install the software.

I will post any installation issues I come across on my WSU weblog (http://blogs.cahnrs.wsu.edu/WSU%2DSpatial/). As always, Kerry Brooks and I are the technical support contacts.
