Overview
Washington State University is participating in a state-wide site license for Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) software. WSU faculty, staff, and students can now install the full complement of ESRI's GIS software and data products at reduced license fees. Please see ESRI's software site (http://www.esri.com/) for product information and specifications.
WSU units, not individual faculty staff or students, license ESRI software from IT. In most cases, the WSU unit is an academic department, research, or service center. Only one license is normally required for each participating WSU unit.
A license renewal fee is required annually from each participating WSU unit for the use of the ESRI products. The fee is determined by the number of units participating.
Once a WSU unit is licensed for the year, it may install and use the products on however many WSU-owned computers within the unit as desired. Renewal payments in subsequent years allow the unit to continue using the ESRI products. Version and release upgrades will be made available at no extra charge to all participating units. Additional products like original software and data products media, hardcopy software documentation, hardware keys (required for ArcGIS Arc/Info), training, and user conferences are not included in the annual renewal fee but are available from ESRI at reduced site license rates.
Current information about the site license and ESRI's software will be posted on the WSU-Spatial Weblog.
